We use energy every day, converting it from one form to another to help us do work, have healthy bodies, transport ourselves around the world, have comfortable homes, and much more. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but is easily converted from one form to another. Some energy conversions of the Kid Power bike are chemical, mechanical, electrical, radiant, and thermal. The International System (SI) unit of energy is the joule (pronounced ‘jewel’), but it can be converted to other units such as, calorie or watt-second, depending on what is being described.
